I've been meaning to post some pics of last month's trip up to Desolation Sound, so here they are. Such a gorgeous part of the world. This trip officially, finally got my wife 100% invested in the boating lifestyle. Both her and my 2 year old son had such a great time, that it just couldn't be helped. When we're all together on the boat in a place like this, it's so easy to be completely detached from the outside world. Fortunately the only mechanical issue we had was a blown genny impeller which I was prepared for and replaced in less than 30 minutes.
Here's the first batch:
Drone shot at a waterfall in Toba inlet. The water is this milky green color from the glacier melt runoff.
More of Toba Inlet ...you can see some of the glaciers near the peaks centre of frame.
My beautiful wife enjoying the majesty of this place
Looking west toward Homfray Channel near the mouth of Toba
Surrounded by 1000ft cliffs.
Enjoying a beach at Pendrell Sound ...this is the warmest Pacific water north of Mexico in this Fjord due to tidal stagnation. (It was about 75 degrees but even warmer later in the season) As a result of the warm water, oysters thrive here. (they were everywhere)
Sunset view looking toward Toba from our spot for the night. You can see another glacier here atop a 9000ft peak.
Ran into a mother Humpback Whale and her calf
Mom and Calf
