Wondering if anyone else has had to replace their depth/temperature sender when a battery is left on and flattened. (2011 Sundeck 240) Has happened once each season over the past 2 years when someone forgets to turn the key off. Transducer is difficult to get and expensive. Not sure why it will not work after the battery is recharged. Any one with knowledge on this? Thanks!

That seems really strange indeed, I routinely kill my battery on the RIB by leaving the electronics master on but everything works normally after I recharge the battery. This will be interesting to follow, have you called the tech support folks for the manufacturer of the transducer for guidance on this?

That certainly is a bit odd.
Make and model of sounder?
What type of transducer? thru hull, transom, inside puck?

Is this a high end, high power fisherman system? Because you say expensive, but that relative.

This is the standard Mercruiser thru hull transducer that came with the boat and displays in the smartcraft gauges. I say expensive because it is a $350 part. Only a mercruiser labeled part works. Aftermarket versions from the same manufacturer Mercrusier uses will not work and are about $200.

I have a way to remember to turn the depth sounder off on the 2003 Select 200. The depth sounder is controlled by the ACCY switch on the MUX pad and not turned off with the ignition. I am wiring a GPS Speedo panel to locate on the bottom of the windshield. The MUX pad has 2 blue red leads. One is controlled by an open fuse for an owner installed radio, etc but not switched. The other powers the depth sounder through the ACCY circuit/button. I'm splicing my speedo to the latter. It will be glowing on the windshield if I forget to turn it and the depth sounder off. Also, I will be able to turn it off at night when glowing distractions are not needed. This is a $50 truckers' special from Amazon and I will post pictures if it works for waterskiing.
