Hi, I am working two issues on a 2003 240 Sundeck.

1) the depth transducer is not working consistently. Often it displays "- - - -" and will go in and out of reading depth on the SmartCraft. I did an inspection and cleaned it without success. Other suggestions before I replace?

2) not getting any reading on speedometer. What to check?

Thanks

#1 - More info please, how fast, how deep, type of bottom, etc.

#2 - Check the piton tube on the outdrive.

Do you have Sea Temp Enabled? Does that work? Most of these transducers have the Sea Temp built in.

When it does display, does it seem to display accurately?

Mine does that sometimes when I am going slow. My mechanic said sometimes bubbles get back when going slow and will interfere with the reading. Most of the time it works fine.

We just had the dealer replace the transducer on our 2010 240 Sundancer. The depth finder was faulty. We would get 0.0 blinking or the ---- that you described. The maintenance guys said that is usually a sign of a faulty transducer.

As for the speedometer, we did a maintenance course with our dealer just after delivery. It's a tiny hole (about the size of a drill bit) on the front of our outdrive. It can become covered or clogged. The techs recommended running in reverse a bit to first see if you snagged a bag or something. If not, you can poke something in there to clean it out. They did warn, however, if you break off something in there it's stuck forever.

I'm still new to all of this, but these are things we just went through with our dealer, so hopefully this helps.
