Good afternoon everyone,

I would like to start off with the back story. I own a 2009 sea ray 185 sport with a 4.3TKS. The boat was optioned with the factory hummingbird depth sounder that was deemed to be defective. This spring the dealer replaced the unit with the Hawkeye depth sounder&transducer (one installed on 2010 boats). The unit is now able read the bottom the downside is that when the temp outside climbs the display fades. The dealer ordered a replacement gauge which I installed yesterday evening and the same problem is presenting again. It seems when the outside air temp climbs the display fades out. It is to the point that the display is not visible from a seated position. The dealer has just contacted the mfg and the mfg stated that they have not heard of this issue. I was wondering if anyone else has run into this problem.

Thanks
Rick

I don,t have a hawkeye brand depth sounder on mine and I don't have that issue. It was at least 100 yesterday with no bimini to shade it and mine worked all day. Mine is the 2001 original that came with my boat.

Thank for the heads up. The original one in the boat was a hummingbird and the display worked fine it just freeze up the numbers never faded out. The dealer replaced it on guidance from the sea ray factory for what ever reason.

Thanks
Rick
