It was going to happen, the OEM sounder that came on our 89 340 Bridge died and needs to be replaced. The issue I have is getting wiring to the upper helm and since the boat is in the water I need to consider shooting the signal thru the hull. Here is my question, anyone have exerience with the Raymarine Ticktack wireless units? From the website it sounds like it will work well for my application, except the signal and distance from the transmitter to the reciever, I figure I need something like 15-16 feet min. There is a lot of Rf noise coming from the engines so any input on these units would be helpful.

Do not shoot Thur the hull. Bite the bullet and install an Air-mar. You will thank yourself for it later. Use the tilted element model and leave the old one where it is. You can usually get a short haul from a marina and have it back in the water in 2 hrs if you use the quick set 5200.

Thanks Bod for the reply. I think I will wait until fall haul out and either do it then or early spring. Besides if I wait maybe Santa will bring me one:grin:
