Hi all,

I will be replacing my non-funtional Lowrance depth finder this coming spring since it likes to blink and make up numbers constantly.

However, I am making a run into unfamiliar waters and need a temporary fix for my trip. Any ideas on a product I can purchase to give me accurate information that will get me through without going through the whole haul out expense since it's almost time to put my baby away.
I think depth may be an important thing to keep an eye on!

Thanks for your ideas.

If you look around there are some temporary style depth finders that you can mount with a suction cup or clamp to a trim tab. Jim (the board's host) might have some insight on that.

I used one of these on a fishing trip in Canada 2 years ago. I used it daily for 6-8 hrs a day for a week with no problems. Not the greatest fishfinder but for determining depth no problems. Even the suction cup stayed attached to the transom (I had my doubts). Only thing is I was cruising around a lake in a 12 foot open Lund with a 9 hp outboard.

Good luck.

John
