Last weekend we anchored out in Goose Bay where the water was 3-4 feet deep. As we approached our spot, the depth indicator on my Raymarine e Series MFD was working fine but when we fired back up to leave it showed no depth. The problem didn't correct itself as we got into deeper water. Is it possible that some sort of debris from the shallow water is clogging the transducer causing it not to register? If so, where is the transducer typically located and is it even possible to investigate while the boat is in the water? I got my MFD last year and I'm pretty sure I have the original transducer that the boat had when I boat it used (the Raytheon electronics package on the 2000 410DA) as I didn't opt for any fishfinder functionality for my MFD at this time. I'm not positive but I believe the temperature reading was still working. Any advice on how to diagnose the problem (preferably without lifting the boat) is greatly appreciated.
