depth finder blinks .05

My depth finder blinks .05 and is not reading the bottom. My boat is a 1998 190 bowrider. Could it be the transducer or the gauge.

Any suggestions or thoughts will be appreciated

is that transducer glued to bottom in bilge or outside boat?
sometimes epoxy getting loose and transducer is not "shooting" trough hull
usually is transducer but head unit can go bad too
you probably have older 3200 series unit and newer transducers will not fit without special adapter cable
better replace with newer 3500 series unit
