I have a basic Humminbird depth finder with a transom mounted transducer. It's about 10yrs old and still works fine, but over the last year I have noticed a black goo like substance leaking out of it. Boat is dry stored, and over the course of a week or two I will see a drip coming out of the back of it around where the seam is (traducer is two plastic parts put together). It's not a lot, but something is definitely oozing out. I assume it is the material that the electronics are mounted in. At some point I am going to replace the whole thing, but at least for now it still works - thinking about trying to seal up the seam where it is leaking somehow. Anyone here have any experience with this? Does anyone know if the cable will disconnect from the transducer end? I called Humminbird, they weren't much help, just said eventually it would quit working and I could replace only the transucer at that point.
