Hi All,

I am taking delivery of a new 2009 SEA RAY 280 on Friday 26/03/10 can't wait.........!!!!! Not having done this before I don't really know what to expect. Dealer has indicated delivery process will take approx 5 hours incl launch & delivery to marina etc.

Any tips / questions / checklists for a new delivery ???

Thank you

Paul

Congratulations! My dealer spent a couple hours with me on the water practicing how to dock etc. as it was my first cruiser and twin engine boat. It was very helpful.

Welcome to CSR and congrats on the new addition!

I'd write down a list of questions you think you have and bring the list with you. Not sure what your boating experience is so I'll assume minimal and give you a few things to start with:
- make sure you know where all of the major systems are located on the boat and how they all work
- how to check engine oil, drive levels, fuel water seps/filters
- how to work the bimini top/camper canvas - not sure what you'll have
- good cruising speed
- how to work with twins - docking, maneuvering, etc.
- how to work all gauges, switches, electronics
- how to use the head and pumpout
- how to access and clean the shower sump

That should give you a start - take notes as a lot of information will be coming your way. Bring your camera and take pictures as well. Delivery captains are used to (or should be) questions and are there to help. Take your time and use that resource.

Thanks guys,

That is a big help already. My only experience is in trailer boats so all of this is very helpful.

Regards

Paul

Read/listen to the generator start up and shut down procedures carefully.....the same with the head system (yes, both the key in the head and the breaker on the main panel must be turned on to get the system to work.

It seems that lots of new owners have difficulty with those items the day after the delivery captain or salesman goes home.
