We're have slips booked starting tomorrow on Martha's Vinyard and Nantucket. I've planned this vacation since February and it is sorely needed. We were planning to leave tomorrow.

We swapped the 290DA for the 330DA today. Everything went well. Love how it ate up everything we had on the 290 with an abundance of room left over. Love the way it barely budges when you step foot on it. Love the clean condition at delivery. Love the way it flattened the wakes of other boats that would jar the 290. Love the monster power and torque of the 496Mags. Reggie Fountain would be impressed. Love the service tech, Joe, who literally bled himself to fix:
1. The windlass that thought up was down
2. Reinstall the TV that thought analog was in so son can watch videos
3. THE HOSE THAT BURNT A HOLE THROUGH ITSELF AT THE STARBOARD MANIFOLD OF THE PORT ENGINE LEAKING GALLONS OF SALT WATER INTO THE BILGE
4. The Vessel View that decided to freeze the screen and take down all of my guages

I find it a good omen that this boat decided to blow the hose during the 30 minute trip from the dealer's marina to my marina, and not halfway to Nantucket.

Imagine my curiosity when all my guages went to zero and the Vessel View froze when all seemed normal otherwise at the helm. Then imagine my horror as I lifted the hatch to the soothing sound of a rainforest and seeing saltwater streaming from the bottom of the manifold. My first thought was that the gasket had blown and the trip was done. Upon further examination the water was coming out of the top of the hose that was nestled up tightly underneith the manifold. The hose had a crispy black hole melted right through it. Luckily, the water only leaked on everything below the manifold of the port engine. It did not spray out. It did not seem to be under much pressure. It was the hose that led to the SeaCore fresh water washout. I hosed it all down with fresh water after the hose was replaced.

BTW, I found only 2 screws and 2 nuts in the bilge.

On the punch list so far:
Replace the port trim indicator - No reading at the guage
Replace the fuel tank indicators - No reading at the guages
Replace the fuel line fitting at the generator - Someone stepped on it and bent it a little
Replace the analog TV with a digital unit
Fix the slow drip I noted coming from starboard bellows region.

The Vessel View going out is a mystery. May be related. May be coincidental. I remember a yellow triangle appearing in the top left of the vessel view indicating a warning just before it went down. I tried toggling to figure out what it meant when it froze and all the guages went to zero.

So, after 12 hours, the leak is fixed. The Vessel View and guages are back online. The windlass is wired correctly.
Time for bed. We cast off at 9.

Good Luck Mike- too bad ANY of this happened.

This is major stuff and I know it has the potential to take some of the "new boat fun" out of the experience. The good news is, you have a great boat and have already discovered several things you love about it. By the time winter storage rolls around, all of these issues will be corrected and you will join the rest of us in counting down the days until we splash again.

Good Luck on the trip- hope all goes well.

Aren't new boats a blast. Glad everything is fixed. Enjoy the trip.

I made it to Martha's Vineyard. The boat rode well and the engines were a pleasure. Nice and heavy feel going through mostly 2-3 foot seas. I tried maximizing my mpg using trim, tabs, and engine speed. The best I could get was just under 1 mpg.

The RPMs on the Vessel View worked for a large leg of the trip, but upon starting out and after a 2 hour break in Cataumet, the RPMs on Vessel view and guages read wildly random. I was able to monitor my speed by GPS and engine speed by the GPH on Vessel View. Everything seemed to read fine on the engine sensors. My pitot wasn't working, so no MPH on the guage or for Vessel View. The Port
trim indicator is out, so I just assumed port was at the same angle as starboard. The fuel guage sensors don't work so, I'm monitoring my fuel use on Vessel View in Gallons Used and filling up at all oportunities.

Now, I just have to get one of those 50A splitters so I can hook up both power cords.

Does anyone know if you can run the TVs on D/c? I assumed that if the boat had TVs, it would also have inverters to run them on DC.

Last year we bought a 2001 340. Had only 235 hours on the engines. The boat sat in salt water for 7 years. It was not abused but was neglected. We had about $4000.00 in engine, generator and boat work before our 829-mile cruise home to it's freshwater covered slip. Since then I have gone through a list of repairs to the systems. None of them individually represents a big deal. It has been interesting and I have learned much about the boat. We love the 340 you should love your 330.

Hey "Julia", I assume when you say Cataumet, you meant Kingmans. I keep my boat there and wish I could have met you and bought you a Mudslide!!! Good luck and post if you will be stopping on the way back.

That's a relatively small punch list for a new boat. Have fun and I hope you have a safe trip.

Bridog- what a sad reality. An overall list of 10 items on a brand new $200K+ purchase and we have been "trained" by boat manufacturers to simply say, "Oh well, it's expected, after all, it is a new boat".

Seems like the tail is wagging the dog here.

Hopefully the list remains short, but, hey, it is a new boat afterall.........

I'm certain you will need AC from shore or gen.

There should be a song called New Boat Blues. Yours would start with, My windlass is confused....then my black hose blew....then next my the screen froze on the vessel view....you can finish it

Enjoy your shake down, break in, vacation!

The TV's are AC and there is no converter. You can either get a DC TV, or install a converter (or is it inverter?).

Boats have become very complicated with all the electronics. There are so many systems and backups. Even the Space Shuttle, a billion dollar piece of equipment has failures. I bet my Sundancer is more reliable than the Space Shuttle.

It is amazing that a manufacturer can turn a profit on such a complex piece of machinery. Think of all the R&D, materials, labor, and equipment needed to build my boat. Then they warantee it for 4 years. It's not like they are pocketing a 50% profit. The fact that they will make it all right and it will have a fair degree of reliability is amazing, considering it will be in a salt bath.
