degreasers

Home Depot sells heavy duty degreaser called Industrial Purple Cleaner and Degreasers. It is on Par with Castrol Super Clean if not the same.

This is what I have used to clean engine bays, equipment and my bilge for years. Great stuff. It is acidic so cover all skin and used safety glasses.

Well ,what i had is called mean green, apperently its so environmentally friendly it wont clean dust off a leaf,or i had some super sludge.Spent most of the day on the starboard side the port is much cleaner so i will attack it after putting the raw water side back togeather.I did find a potentially deadly 1.5" raw water hose from strainer to seawater pump,i had to remove it to clean under the engine and it almost fell apart in two areas,i cannot belive the surveyor didnt mention the rotting hose last year,i cant belive i didnt either it was the bottom side against the hull, the insides looked like they were ballooning inward also. There are no size markings on this hose so i had to measure it,i will replace the other side also just to be sure and i reinspected all hoses most were replaced last year already and i found one air hose off the turbo wasnt clamped correctly.Ok heres the before and after pics,i will get better degreaser next week possibly red power deisel cleaner, burns my nose and eyes and skin just being near it.

By the way the 1375 steamer was awsome,it ran for about 2 hrs before having to refill it and it has so many attachments it redundant. And the pressure was amazing, like a 200 degree airhose.I dialed it down some for most of the work and used a flashlight to see but i think i will run a small fan next weekend to blow some steam out of the sight line so i dont have to stop to clear the fog.I saved $30 and got free shipping by getting an amazon card to purchase it so it was $130 shipped. The smaller 1250 version was $119 so it was a good deal in my eyes.It has a few more things to clean before spring.
