Has anyone diverted the floor drains and anchor locker drains directly into the bilge vs locker to locker drainage?

These should be self bailing. I am trying to keep these lockers dry.....

Rich,

How much water are getting in the lockers? You do have the dry mats in your locker floor don't you?

When I wash the boat, have ice in the front cooler or don't have it covered in the rain the lockers get wet. Anchor and cooler drains into the front locker then to the larger midship locker.I have the white mat in the larger locker but everything gets damp and mildewed. I want to keep these dry.

Yes the anchor and cooler drains are one of my pet peeves too. If I use the front cooler I only use ice packs so it will not drain.

I think there is a very simple solution, I think you could run pvc pipe from the front floor locker all the way to the back channel drain and tie in all drains to that, the 2 locker rim drains, anchor and cooler drains. Then connect the pvc to your self bailing drains. This will be my project, just have to find time... :smt013

I actually have the PVC route mapped out. Using 3/4 PVC and 3/4 inch clear tubing (with a loop so any heavy debris is contained and not washed into the bilge) from the deck drain to the PVC running between the lockers into the bilge.

Other areas like, head, utility cabinet (in front of the helm) also drain into these lockers but these are dry areas.

The tubing just fits into the large locker drain to the bilge so if water entered the locker in any way it would not make it to the bilge.

Wanted to know if anyone saw an issue w/ this.
Could there be a potential problem created by closing up the locker drain to the bilge and dedicating it to the deck water run off only?

Long winded I know.....

Sounds interesting?? With the anchor drain hooked to it, will there be some way to clean the pvc line? (ie: if mud or grud gets in it?)

the vynal hose slips in to the PVC T's and is visible and serviceable and since it is clear. I also put in a few clear couplings so the PVC can be easily inspected.
