Deck carpet button replacement

I have the metal buttons on my deck for the carpet snaps. Anyone replace theses with white rubber screws or plugs? Since I don't have a carpet on my deck I was thinking of unscrewing these and replacing them with a rubber plugs. Any thoughts?

I've seen the studs replaced with small stainless screws that are much easier on the feet. Looks nice too. You just need to find the right size...
