+1 on the rubber wheel, I used this and it worked great.I can usually get them loose with a light wave of the heat gun without any collateral damage, but, if it won't come loose with that, you can always use a rubber wheel. That took the 20+year-old name off the back of mine. I was impressed how easy it was on the gelcoat.

Don’t waste your time with heat and blades that can damage the gelcoat. Get one or two of these and the job is done fast and without damage+1 on the rubber wheel, I used this and it worked great.

Yeah I usually use heat. You can see the mi sticker pull off in one piece. The numbers are basically disintegrating when I try to lift a corner.A little heat from a hair dryer makes short work of them and does not damage gel coat. Used that approach for many years without an issue. Acetone or Goo Off gets rid of the glue residue.
Interesting, thanks for the post.Be careful on the stripes….. find a replacement before peeling them….. I recently tried working with a sponser on this sight….. one night the wind picked up and the dinghy rubbed up against the side and took a chunk out of both stripes
All I need is 4 feet of each…. They have a min of 50’ for one and a 150’ for the other…. They say they will cut them but every 1/8”…… so I had to cut it. It starts at 3.760 and 4-1/2’ later ends at 3.960. I told them I don’t need a taper…. No go
just make sure to source the stripe before removing it
