We've been hanging out in Hamburg cove and at Essex on the Conneticut River the last few days and just a heads up there is a ton of tree logs on the river. I've been here many times and never seen it like this so be on alert if you make it up this way. I'm sure this stuff is making its way out to LI sound also...

Thats awsome if you get a chance go into town and visit the black seal. My marina is right across the street.

Steve,

Last time I was there I had to tow a huge tree out of my slip. I'm not a river cruiser, but after seeing the amount of debris in water I decided not to venture further West to Hamburg cove. As scheduled we stayed at EIM.

I hope they changed the bridge operator. One of them is a total prick. We still laugh how he addressed one of the boats "...unidentified unit..." that was circling waiting for the bridge opening.

I live about 60mi up river and can tell you there's a whole lot more headed that way - my wife and I were at a restauraunt that overlooks the river, and we couldn't belive all the "whole trees" we saw float by...

Mike, you think this is post Sandy stuff resurfacing? during my stay there it was post recent storm. But, I don't recall hearing about storms in that area recently.

Like many areas we have had a ton of rain and the rivers (not just the ct but those that feed it) are running high - I think there was a lot of trash left on the banks from past storms and the "high water" is washing it downstream.

I'm going with the same bridge operator Alex. He informed me that if I requested a bridge opening and I could navigate under it without needing it open, I could be subject to fine.... I prefer to air on the side of caution but we made it with maybe a foot with lowering my anchor light. I too woke up with several logs next to the boat at EIM.

Sounds like that clown needs an attitude adjustment.....

CT river boater here. It's like navigating a maze, although its better now. We get it every year, but this year has been worse than normal. After Sandy it was a nightmare until winter haul out.
