Here's the pics as promised of yesterday's purchase. A little history on my quest...

I've been watching this boat for 8 months. Only listing was on the storage facilities website which probably doesn't get much traffic. Owner started dropping price this Spring so I knew he was motivated. So I through an offer out and he took it!! $5k!!!! I was blown away and was thinking something was too good to be true and was prepared for horrible sea trial filled with issues. First try we had a stalling issue and never left dock (see my other posts). In the end, owner fixed and I ended up with all new shift cables AND rebuilt lower unit.

  • 1987 250 DA
  • Merc 260 (300 hours) (330HP Vortec "tweaked"), Alpha I
  • $2500+ in Canvas (two tops + custom bow cover)
  • New bottom paint
  • PFD's, toys, anchors, line, fenders

I feel like this was my one deal of a lifetime. Oh, and this baby moves. 48mph at WOT, 5400 RPMs. Watch out runabouts...she's a sleeper!!

Let me know what you think.

I know. I took them with my phone and made them as big as I could. I'll shoot more with better camera. Thanks.

You have a GREAT boat at a Great deal, I know your going love this boat even more as you use it. Enjoy. Now about the speed, you need to slow it down a bit or i need to come up with a way to make mine faster......it would be cheaper if you just slow yours down a bit, what do you think ? just down to 45MPH. Thats not asking to much is it?

Sweet deal! Congrats...

5K? Wow! Go buy a lottery ticket ... quick!

And if you see another deal like that, please let me know.

Enjoy.

Slow down? I was going install a ProCharger next (just kidding). Thanks again. Just goes to show that patience pays off. Boat is being kept at the Boat House at Benders Ferry. Check out their website, www.boathouseatbendersferry.com. They have a nice '85 268 that's pretty clean listed for around $8500. I remember that's where I started in price. Money talks now days. Oh, and they'll even wash your boat for $1.00 per foot. Now that's service.

Spent the day shopping for goodies at the local West Marine and adding insurance. Tomorrow's going to be a great day on the water!!

Better be easy on that drive with 330 horse, or your gonna bring the price of your $5K boat to around $6,500 when your replacing it, but killer deal anyway you look at it.

I'm always easy coming up to plane and won't run it like I did on the sea trial. It is nice having the power in reserve though. I know Alpha I's are rated to about 300 max so maybe a Bravo conversion will be in the future.

would be nice to do that, might be costly for the conversion kit
