We've done the whole renaming thing one other time on our last boat, AMFM 2. I found it necessary after using the new name on the boat on the VHF calling the marina on launch day. Turned out my port drive seized when I restarted the boat! So we weren't taking chances this time.
There's the old name "Right Here Right Now" put on by the PO. He got his inspiration for the name from the Lenny Kravitz song.
I started yesterday removing the name and was surprised how quickly came off. But you could still see the old lettering. It was a combination of dirt, oxidation and glue from the old vinyl lettering.
So we used this.
And it cleaned up nicely with the help of my son Ryan. We got the glue off then used Buff Magic to clean and polish the fibreglass. We'll seal the new vinyl logo with wax once it's installed and has cured for a day or two.
Today we got to putting the new logo on, but not before doing the renaming ceremony complete with bubbly!
And, of course, poured on the bow to please the sea and wind gods.
Ryan was the guy who designed the logo for us. He helped install the logo on our last boat and was right in there helping me out. It was two pieces with the black going on first and the blue accent second.
And finished product done and installed followed by the renaming with the requisite bubbly and official renaming as "AMFM 3"
That's it! Thanks for reading.
