I ordered replacement dash for my 95 370. In prepping for the arrival, does anybody have a DIY for removal of the switches and dials?

Thanks

Your best bet will be to go to an electrical supply and get some wire marker numbers, then make a corresponding list for numbers to functions.

and as previsouly said, take your time.

I am about to tackle the same project (just waiting on Scott at Vector to get me the dash...). I agree with the previous comments but add that I use a film label maker and label the wires before removal. Digital pictures, yes. Time, yes.

Let me know how those panels turn out, and how much $$$ they were roughly. I have some ideas for updating my dash in the near future.

I took pictures of the back of my dash just for general information. If anything happens to it or the components I have a reference to go by. Paper diagrams and marking tape is a must as many have said.

I found that it is a mistake to take more than none switch or gauge out at a time and that marking everything before beginning is a waste of time. Too may wires and not enough space to work. If you do one item at a time, you must carefully mark every wire, but at least you only have a few wires to deal with at a time and you can check the operation of the switch before leaving it and moving to the next one.

On some Sea Ray panels, there is a narrow piece of foam rubber needed around the edge as well as some rubber bushings to cushion the new panel. Secure both before beginning because the old ones are not going to be worth using. Scott at Vector LED can help you get what you need.

$270 for mine...but haven't seen it yet.

I got my dash from vector imaging , after waiting 7 weeks. It looks great, but Scott missed 2 holes for the depth finder. Don't really know how to go about drilling the holes without cracking the new panel . I paid $240 for mine, its the one with the switches . I haven't tried the install yet , I'm waiting for Scott to get back to me on how to drill the holes. I think he checks his e-mails like only once a week.

+1 on the "checks his emails once a week". I get this feeling this is a hobby, or a second job or something. I don't care...I'm not in that big a hurry and I understand he does a bang up job...but he isn't Jim at BOE.

Go get a hole saw from home depot or lowes and be very careful and make sure its the right size. Or...get a dremmel! Best tool I ever owned! Trick with drilling on plastic base material, is go slowly and be consistant (No pressure!). Tow avoid scratching, put blue painters tape anywhere a tool could come in contact with the panel.

Scott has been having a rough couple of months.... With a close family member's illness and passing away. I could rant & rave, but in the end we are blessed.

Have patience, it will all work out.

$400. for my 3 pieces. Scott is a great guy and you will get a product 100% better than what SeaRay had to start.

Thanks for the info fellas. Deffinatley going to inquire when I get back home from Holland.:smt024

One of probably the MOST important set of wires you'll be around while in there are the pink ones. Those connect to your fuel senders. Accidentally connect to a hot lead, you've just made a bomb! And probably a big one! Shut OFF battery switch while changing gauges or panels. Then check, and recheck before applying power.

Safety First!
