Now I've made a living wiring things from 1,000 MCM 15K wire down to the little tiny stuff. Mapping and marking wire is just what you do when dealing with multiple wires . In this day and age with phone camera even makes wire even easier. With that said out with the burl wood dash and in with the black Star Dust dash replacements from Flounder Pounder. I'm not going to lie in saying I'm not looking forward to doing this job.

As a Journeyman Wireman that has worked on very similar projects probably, I still like to get into some basics, like helping a family member wire their house. Its always a reminder, i am pretty good at that stuff.... LOL

Enjoy it

its totally worth it, I loved it on our 290 with the stardust and would really like to do our 410 once I have the electronics all squared away

Recently did this with a 98 270 DA. As you said, the pics on the phone are a huge help. I also made marks on each of the connectors with a sharpie to indicate the order they when on. So, didn't need the pics for most of the work. Made a tick for each position, 1, 2, 3, etc. Also put a stripe down the line of 2 row of connectors so I could tell which was left when which was right.
