I need to replace my Dash switch panel immediately. Yesterday, I took mine off and it fell into about 5 pieces when I unscrewed it and pulled it off. I found the replacement panel I need on Flounder Pounder's web site So I'm good to go there. I'm thinking I'll also buy the new switches to go with the new panel as many of my switches look old, faded and brittle.

In doing a site search on how to go about this swap I see that several people have also replaced the back lighting when they did their swap using EL tape and some used LED rope lights. Most of the posts were several years old and many of the links to sites and parts no longer worked. Now that I have seen some of your boats with the back lighting, I think it is a really neat must have option that I'd like to add to my project.

I did notice that my panel had the EL tape installed but it has never worked as long as I have owned the boat so I'm not sure if more el tape will be the best option or not. I'm hoping to get some good input from those of you who have done this upgrade and some advice on the best/easiest lighting option available and how to go about doing that upgrade.

I did mine with http://www.tecnografic.com/ and the back lighting came with it. All I had to do was hook up the 12V.

I just sent them an email for a quote? Do they have the panels in template format or do I need to send mine in to get it matched for an exact replacement?

I used EL tape on mine since that was what was there originally. It was easy to do and works very well. LED's are also a good choice but for me, the EL tape fit in exactly like original. I got mine from a place in Virgina called 'Light Tape", Phone 804-355-1692

Did you need a new transformer or converter?

That I cannot answer. I sent mine in for them to match it up. Give them a call tomorrow. Good people.

A new transformer driver was supplied with the el tape.
