Hello All,
I aquired my new 89 30' Sundancer 2 weeks ago. I have been busy fixing/adding electronics and general neglected upkeep on the new boat. I am trying to diagnose non working dash/gauge lights. I am pretty sure they worked the first night I had the boat. I am looking for a schematic or help with a fuse location for them. Or, wondering if another system has to be on, i.e. cabin lights, cockpit lights before the gauge switch will be able activate the gauge lights. Thanks for any help.

Welcome...I'll ask the obvious...could you have inadvertently turned down the dimmer ?

usually they are connected to nav. lights or dimmer switch

Switch on the Nav lights, then switch the dash lights on. They are tied to them somehow. They are on a three position switch. Low on the bottom, off in the middle and high when switched up. At least, that's what I hear. I only have on position that works and no way to adjust the intensity. The way they are wired allows you to run the anchor light all night without the dash lights.

thanks guys, I am not sure where the dimmer switch is, so that wasn't a out of line question!!! I will check it out tonight and see what is up.

Ditto what Sundancer said. I just asked this same question a few weeks ago and the above reply nailed it.

Could be as simple as a connector vibrating off the back of the switch. Sometimes have to squeeze the connectors with needlenose pliers on my '91 to get them to stay on.
