I have a 1983 260 and I want to cut the transom and make a walk thru to the swim deck. has anybody tackled this. I searched the site and did not find anything.

I saw where someone did this on a Trojan once. They did a lot of transom reinforcement first. Their logic was that this transom that I'm cutting into, in large part, keeps the back end of the boat from folding in half. I don't know if that's completely true, but it kinda makes sense. I'll let you run the sawzall and tell me how it goes.

I actually saw a 1976 26 Trojan with this done in the Sarnia Ontario area and was really impressed.I had the same boat but was not skilled enough to tackle a job like that good luck.I guess it goes without saying to double check nothing is in the transom where you are cutting

A friend of mine with an early 80's 31' Wellcraft had this done at a local boatyard. They did a very professional job to where it looked completely factory. It's made a HUGE difference to the useability of the boat and hasn't shown a crack in 10 years.

I'll email him for pictures but he's not exactly computer literate so I won't hold my breath.

If you go for it just do it right and you'll love the results.

You wouldn't by chance need to get a pig on or off the boat would you? Just curious...

There was a guy on the Bayliner site who did this. It actually turned out pretty well.
