I have seen a few boats with a sunbrella sun shade attached to the hard top and pulled over a pole that goes in the rod holder. I am looking for a source for the telescoping stainless steel poles. They also have a roller at the top and a cam cleat to tie off. I dont remember seeing a vendor at the FLIBS but i can find the information.

Also has anyone done this?

Jeremy, that was the vendor perfect!
Jon, I am having my aft canvas replaced. He is going to install a second zipper on the curtain rail at the hardtop to receive the shade. Custom shade to pull back to the poles. This will not be used while running. I should have completed by mid winter and will post pix.

We use the sunfly top all the time. It takes 30 sec to put up or down. Works great on light rain days as well to keep the cockpit open but dry. I will be interested how they look on a 48 as that will probably be my next boat and love sunfly on my 340. As an fyi, I found the stock rod holders (if you have them) to be inadequate. I bought heavy duty off shore one as the bast of the stock ones flexed ALOT when I tightened down on the top.

I had similar ones made locally in CT. My only regret is that they are not adjustable similar to Jeremy's simply because I've yet to find a good storage area on our 320 for them. So if you have the room my poles may be for sale at a good price

Now that I mention it I may talk to Masterfab to see if he can work his magic.

His woould probably be even better than what I have.

Jeremy, do you have a 72" telescoping? How is the quality?

Sorry rocket, I never saw this question. I have the 72" telescoping and quality is awesome. They are heavy thick gauge stainless with Delrin material for the slide so they are smooth sliding in and out. They are expensive but I don't think you could make them any better quality.

Jeremygavin, I like your total cockpit cover. Was that custom made? I only go out with good weather and I like the open feeling without canvas.

It came with the boat but I beleive it was a factory cover from Great Lakes boat tops. I agree with your stament about the open boat feel. I almost never put up the curtains on the top.
