Has anyone added a shiny bow protection pad to prevent anchor rash?
I am considering this due to some cosmetic damage I have in this area. Any thoughts, pros, cons, or suggestions welcome.
It would have to look like it could have been original.
THANKS!

im confused as to how you are getting "anchor rash". doesnt your roller keep the chain centered? are you not slowing the windlass down prior to the anchor breaking the surface?

When I was bringing my boat back from Boston to NJ in March of 2013, I ran into some very rough seas in Buzzards Bay.
It seems that the anchor may not have been pulled in tight against the bow and the carabiner broke letting out about 1foot of slack chain. My surveyor had played with the windlass and I blame myself for missing that in my pre flight check.
The gelcoat was dinged up and the anchor shaft was bent. I was lucky more chain did not pay out.
The bottom line is that last spring I tried to repair the gelcoat with the paste match from Sea Ray, but I am not an expert and I am not satisfied with the result. I will probably spend more time with it next spring to finesse it further.

I like the look of the ss bow protectors ,was thinking of having one made,do you have a source?

No source. I was looking for input from the members. Perhaps I should not mess with the originality, but premium boats like Formula have them and they look good.

oh, I see. any local fab shop should be able to handle this without a problem. Buzzards bay is known to be hellish in a southwest wind.
i wasnt sure what you were talking about with the pad but ive seen them and they look good. i would make sure it fits perfect before applying the adhesive. you dont want a gap
