Always hated a couple aspects of the seating arrangement on my 290DA. The little beverage holder bump out made it impossible for two people to sit together comfortably and I never could understand why they designed the stern/port side seating with the void in the corner. This arrangement added space for 3 people and made it was more comfortable for just lounging around. The little semi-circle cut out in between the two removable port side cushions will with be used for a cup holder or an additional filler cushion will be made for that area.

I can tell you the reason that Sea Ray did what they did... the bump out was to provide a little security for passengers since they are sitting sideways - sort of keeps them from banging into each other. The void in the corner is two fold... to allow for a step-in from a dock (or step-out) without having to step on cushions. Second it's because some people would complain that to get the engine they had to remove a long bench every time. It also allows for another forward-facing seat (with feet on the floor) for security.

Right or wrong, it was done to appease the most amount of people.

That said, to be honest, none of that really matters. I commend you on making the changes YOU wanted to to make it better for YOU - that's the part that matters most. It looks like it was done very nicely, too!

Looks great!! Who did the work for you?

Local guy in the Cleveland area. First time he ever did any type of work on a boat. He specializes in barber shop and beauty salon chairs. I can tell you the stitching and the quality of the materials is top shelf. There are two minor issues but overall I’m super happy.
