I am trying to figure out what to do for a set of cushions for the front deck of my 400 express..... I want to have a set that I think can be left in place while underway, that would require fastening them to the deck. The might be just covered in white vinyl or sunbrella or???. I have a friend that has a catamaran that the big cushions that are on each side of the aft deck are a mesh that can get wet and the water runs right through the foam..
Any thoughts?

Have you tried finding a local upholstery company? Most should be able to make cushions or a sun pad that can be left in place while underway. There are a couple different ways (e.g. snaps) to attach the cushions to the exterior of the boat to keep it secure. I have a large bow cushion on my boat that's attached with snaps and it works really well. The white marine grade vinyl is typically the OEM version delivered with the new Sea Ray boats.

I have two bow pads on my 280. The front of them are secured by sliding it into a U-channel mounted to the deck and the rest is snapped in. The U-channel is similar to how your bimini attaches to the arch. I think SR calls it a valence? Anyway, I can get on plane and the pads stay perfectly in place.

I would use closed cell foam and sunbrella material.....Bring to a "tailor" "Chinese Woman shop" and it will be cheap.......or just go to canvas shop and have do...If you know how to sew, you could do.....

I would avoid Sunbrella on the fore deck. If you want to leave the cushion in place all the time it would soak humidity. I have Sunbrella in the cockpit but vinyl on the bow
