I am still having the issue (see post http://clubsearay.com/forum/showthread.php?t=7446) of my helm door blowing open when I am using it to block off the bow. I haven't taken it back to the dealer yet for adjustment but I plan to. Anyway, this raises another ? - if I am towing the boat with the helm door shut (not blocking off the bow) my back cushion seems to want to blow off...they haven't blown out of the boat YET and that is exactly what I am worried about. So my question is - has anyone used anything like velcro or adding snaps with straps to keep the cushions tightly secured? If so, what did you use and how is it working?

when I bought my boat the seat cushion was damaged because it blew out and hit the road. I've since replace the skin of the cushion for around $250. I currently use the bow cover to keep the wind from blowing through the boat and raising the cushion when towing.

I used to have to tow with the bow cover on too on my 220SD; or else my engine hatch would want to open up and blow my chusions to the road.

Personal I leave both cover (Bow & Cockpit) on when towing.

I towed Taradise down to Tampa 2 weeks ago...I started out with both covers on...all went well for the first 200 miles (traveling about 75mph). As I tow I always have an eye on what I am towing...low and behold - BAM the back cover flies up and over the windshield - I think if I hadn't had the bimini laying down the cover would have blown ALL THE WAY OFF...the results are 5 snaps completely ruined (a few pulled thru the canvas completely - and the other are just plain ruined)...I rolled the cover up and stowed it away but left the front one on...finished the trip to and from towing with just the front cover on and a cooler full of 'stuff' for weight on the back cushions so they wouldnt blow out. I friend of mine suggested that next time I use blue painters tape to tape the cover to the boat to keep wind from getting underneath the cover and yanking it off. I won't tow again with the back cover on until I get the snaps replace and/or find a different solution.

to note - before my trip I did ask my dealer if these were traveling covers and they said 'no' so I guess I was warned...

funny.. my dealer said they were.. I've not had any issues with my covers at highway speeds (plus some pretty heavy duty Oklahoma winds whipping them too in addition to the speed)

The blue painters tape sounds like a good idea.

I always drive with both covers on with no problems. My longest trip is about 100 miles. I keep at 70 mph since I was told that the tires are only rated to 65mph.

We've pulled MS Judy a couple thousand highway miles with no problem. I do make sure the two covers are attached where the Velcro section is, so air can not get under the back/cockpit section. We keep the bimini in the upright position. Speed wise normally in the 60-65 MPH range on the highway.. Did the snaps pull out from the boat or from the canvas? If from the canvas you may have gotten a bad batch of canvas. I remember another user talking about their canvas tearing and when they spoke with Great Lakes they got it replaced under warranty I think????

Wow! I'm shocked to hear that you guys are towing with either cover on. I was told not to by MM. I thought for sure that they would blow off!

So do you have any issues with the bow cover streching out from all the wind?

MM here suggested that I tow with them ON. I have not had any issues with stretching. I do keep the poles tight and as Chuck suggested, the velcro at the windshield very secure.

I'm thinking the canvas is bad or the snap install one.

I think my bow has streched but I just raise the pole to take the slack. It still repels water. When I'm not on the water the boats spends most of its time indoors.
