On an engine without a spring-loaded belt tensioner, what is the best way to get the right serpentine belt tension?
This particular engine has the alternator sliding to adjust belt tension and from what I understand with an OEM belt you run the adjustment right up to the stop. This particular engine has a slightly smaller belt, and I think if I tried to run it up against the stop I'd either snap the belt or put too much strain on the pulleys. Seeing some belt dust and want to stop that before it eats the belt entirely. Was going to replace it with an OEM but looks like they're out of stock everywhere I checked, and can't seem to cross-ref that exact part to another vendor. By size I can get and HD one "very close" to the OEM, but not sure it's exact.
