CSR service tray

Looks real sharp, love inlays of any kind. Not easy to do.

That looks very nice. How do you do that? Can you show some "in progress" photos for us non-wood workers?

Polymer clay that is used for molding it is sold at craft stores called FIMO . I took the CSR logo off the computer transferred it to the wood with carbon paper. You then go over tracing with an Exacto knife unit you cut a deep grove into wood then I used a very sharp chisel and common carving tool to gouge the wood out about 3/16" deep.Once you get the wood craved out and the outer edge cleaned up nice and sharp you take the clay and need it in your hand until it is good and soft then you press it into the wood the important part here is that the wood is good and clean so no dust to get into the clay. You put the clay in the wood and leave it tall you will sand it flat after you bake it in the oven at 260 degrees for a half an hour. I don't no if it is needed but I put tin foil shiny side up around the wood where there is no clay. After you sand it down check to make sure the clay did not come loose any where if so put crazy glue around the edge and the sand it off. Then you put a very heavy finish on it to also hold it tight. If you have a scroll saw then you could skip the carving part just use a piece of wood 1/4" thick then glue it to a board .
