CSR Northeast Flotilla 2015

Thanks Ed. Do you know if they come to vessels in the mooring or anchorage area, or do we need to go to the barge? For some reason it’s hard to get them on the phone.[/QUOTE

I know Casey sold the barge/oil business, but I'm sure its still running - the new owner was already in the oil business and keeps 2 boats at NHH....I believe I have Bob Casey's cell (he still owns the marinas, etc) - E-Mail me if you need it

We're pulling into Block as you are leaving, and hope to run into those that are extending the stay. Reads like you have yet another great trip planned. Safe travels!

We were hoping to leave out tomorrow however fuel pump problem on the genny pushed us back a day or so. Part should be in and installed today (fingers crossed). If not we're heading out Sat. Can't wait to see everyone!!

Just another reminder......Gasoline is expensive in Newport - usually $.50 - 1.00 per gallon more - worth it to plan around it for the gas boats - Pt Judith marine is an easy stop either coming or going to Npt. - call and check prices if you care - The three places to get gasoline (usually all within pennies of each other) in Newport are Newport Yachting Center, Bannisters Wharf and Goat Island.

Mike,
Thanks for the tips.

Folks,
Here's what I see as the bike routes (in Newport):

From Scooter World to Fort Adams

From Fort Adams to Brenton Point Park

Here's what I think might work for stations locations during dinghy poker run in E. Greenwich.

Any thoughts?

Our planned departure is tomorrow at 8am. Can't wait!! Ron and Wendy and our crew are meeting up for the cruise to Shelter. Will anyone else be arriving in Shelter tomorrow?

Oddly enough, our vacation plans have changed a bit, so it looks like we'll be in Shelter on Saturday, and we'll be spending the night there. We have to leave Sunday for other destinations and prior commitments, but at least we'll intersect with you guys. We'll bring along a platter of homemade deviled eggs and a large chicken caesar salad for the feast, or something similar. How's that for a last minute addition?

Dale

Dale, your the man. Thats how you cruise on the fly!!!
Cant wait to see ya and the misses again!!!

Ps, i also need you to make me a custom spreader bar for the crane/tender heeheee

I'll check it out this weekend. I may have to take your boat out for a while, to evaluate any dynamic instabilities, and so on.

And I just realized, this is my one thousandth post. I need a different hobby......

That's great to hear, Dale. We'd love to see you and Tina. Way to go. BTW, this post should have been your 1000nd one....LOL

Finally sitting on the coach after spending most of the evening provisioning and prepping the boat. May stop in the am to top off the fuel tanks but otherwise I think we are good to go. Oh yeah, had one last minute thing to take care of, changing the fuel pump on the port motor!! Went to check the lube oil level in the cam lob area (my pump is mounted on the sea water pump housing) and found fuel instead of lube oil!! Needless to say the pump was leaking. Got it all cleaned up and the pump changed ($210 for the pump) and she is working good now. Scary part was that I had no idea the pump had been leaking. No fuel odor and no noticeable loss of power or economy.

Good catch before a long trip. We have been battling a dying Galley fridge so I have a new isotherm fridge on order that is supposed to arrive tomorrow. If that happens it will go in late night tomorrow and then we are off to Newport 8am on Saturday.

Everyone have a safe trip to Shelter island and a fun weekend We will see you Newport on Monday. I will remind the dock master when I get there on Saturday that we are all together and see if we can get everyone close slips.

Good luck with your fridge. Thanks for giving the dock master the heads up. See you in a couple of days.

Alex, the routes and dinghy run layout looks good.

Hopefully, everyone’s last minute breakdowns will stop with Jeremy’s fridge and Dean’s genny’s fuel pump. Good luck with the fix, guys. Let’s keep our fingers crossed that all will be fixed on time for the planned departure.

Everyone have a safe trip. We’ll see you shortly.

Russ, the crew of Visa Versa dinner choices are
3-tenderloin
1-shrimp
1-chicken. Thanks

I’ve look at the route options from WNH to Newport.

  • Option 1: Go south around Mashomack Pt, then jump in to the Gardiners Bay on the north side of the Gardiners Island, then straight to Newport.
  • Option 2: Go south around Mashomack Pt, then passing by Gardiners Island on the south side (having Montauk on our stbd side). Then straight to Newport.
  • Option 3: Heading NW out of WNH via Greenport, then jump into the Gardiners Bay on the north side of the Gardiners Island, then straight to Newport.
Option 1 seems to be the shortest, just over 58NM. Option 2 and 3 are almost the same, 61-62NM.
My guess is that in the interest of time, option 1 would be our preference.
Any thoughts?

What about Option #4, Heading NW out of WNH via Greenport, then passing by Gardiners Island on the south side (having Montauk on our stbd side). Then straight to Newport.

I say 1 or 3, I don't see the need to go on the south side of Gardiners.

Greg,

here's option 1: 58nm

Here's option 3 (which sounds like you meant as your #4): 61nm
