CSR Northeast Flotilla 2014

Well, it looks like Four Winners & I are the sole survivors! I saw Larry off this morning....

We had a "fair" dinner at the marina restaurant tonight. You can't beat the scenery here:

We are getting ready to bug out tomorrow. The seas are supposed to be 2 feet all the way home & sunny skies! I hope the forecast doesn't change!!
I had a great time here in block (almost a week!) and look forward to coming back!

We left Block on Saturday with 'Life Got Better' and followed a straight line ocean run outside of Montauk. Block Island Sound was 2-3 footers, not bad at all. The waves kicked up some on the approach to Moriches inlet. My biggest concern was skinny water in this area, but as it turned out the area is well marked and deep. @ slack tide (high) the inlet was 9.5', with the inside channel 6.5'

We had a really good time meeting up with the group. And as usual, it is a pleasure talking with old faces along with the new!

I have quite a few travel shots to post that I'll do over the next few days.

Made it home on Sunday after a 136 mile, 9 hour 45 minute run with Ron and Wendy on “Knot for Sail”
The weather was good, but the seas off Block were kicking up 3-4 footers so we took the inside route around Montauk and stayed inside the entire trip home. Danny was getting sea sick, so the inside route was our best choice.
We had a wonderful time making new friends and seeing old friends. We are already looking forward to the next Flotilla!!

Joe, I got the photos from Alex. He picked up the DVD from the pilot after the photo shoot on Block Island. I was able to have Alex put all the photos onto the SD card from my camera with his laptop. Check the email that Alex sent recently, he is working on a way to get them to everyone. Sorry you could not make it to Block. I am glad you were able to make Shelter and Mystic. It was nice meeting up with you.

The whole family had a blast. It was great meeting everyone and making new friends. We especially enjoyed the chance to raft up with everyone for the last day. Next year we hope to have a dingy! The waters were a bit rough yesterday so we stayed overnight in Westbrook CT. We had a nice smooth ride home this morning.

Hi Guys,

I was able to share the DVD images with few folks who gave me their thumb drive.

I was talking to Jeremy about pix sharing with the those who didn't have thumb drives or SD cards, and he said that he was happy using DropBox service. So, we've tested it and it worked fine. Jeremy was able to get all of the pix I've shared. I've created two folders under my account "Shelter_Isl" and "Block". Total size of all images is just over 1GB. As far as I can see the file sizes remain the same, so I assume that resolution was preserved as well.

All is needed is creating a free account and then you'll be able to download the pix to your local drives. If anyone needs assistance, I'm sure Jeremy can post few steps on how he downloaded the pix from the site.

As always, if anyone feels more comfortable mailing me their CF or flash drives, I can do the copy for you. We can cover the details over the emails.

I have over 2GB worth of my pix and I'll be happy to share some of them as well. Jelena did a great job taking some nice shots of the flotilla underway and others. Sean took some nice lively shots during soccer game.

As always, I'll do a quick write-up and post some pix to highlight some of the events that took place. I'll need few days for this, though.

It has been a few years since I set up my Dropbox so I don't remember the particulars but the short version is Alex has to invite each of you to his shared Dropbox folders. Once he does that and you accept it (after you download Dropbox at Dropbox.com or the app on App Store) the folders will show up in the drop box folder on your PC or in the Dropbox app on your mobile device. You can also go to Dropbox.com and log in there and see them on the web as well.
