CSR Northeast Flotilla 2013

Hi Alex

Thanks again for all you are doing.

Is dessert a choice for the offering?

If so I will be happy to bring the watermelon.

If not what are the choices.

Neil

Quick story of my ongoing bad luck. Went out to dinner last night and on my cruise home around 10pm my engines shut down and seemed to have locked. Took out the spot light and what do ya know a nice fat one inch line is wrapped around my props yes both. Dropped anchor but by the time it grabbed I would say maybe 2 min I found myself up in the marsh land. Boat us shows up about 45min later and pulls me back to port.. got the scuba gear out today and I went through 3 tanks cutting that line off. Tough stuff. Went for a test run and all is good. I think im just the kiss of death I went through all the issues in 3 months that most people wont go through in there boating career. And geeze was that a high high tide yesturday. I was about a foot below the top of my pilings.
Good news is my genny is up and running again!!

Niel,

Watermelon sounds good, but usually we bring a dish (main entree) that can server several people, so other folks can try it and desert. This does NOT mean that you need to have a dish that feeds 100 people. You can always bring fruits for desert, so that's where watermelon would be a great addition. But, if you can do something with the entree plate that would be great. If you want to get better ideas on the dish you can check out links on the first page for previous rendezvous.

If you have a pellet gun, roasted rat I hear is tasty. There's a lot on the island.

Well, if I show up, put me down for Spotted Dick as the entree and a Salzburger Nockerl and some Whoopie Pie for dessert.

Spotted Dick
What it is: A British steamed pudding studded with dried fruit, such as currants, and served with custard.

Whoopie Pie
What it is: Two round pieces of chocolate cake with frosting sandwiched in the middle. Similar to an Oreo, but less crunchy.

Salzburger Nockerl
What it is: A dessert soufflé formed to look like the three hills that surround Salzburg, Austria.

Neil,

I'm contacting Taylor Isl regarding grills, tables and chairs. I'll keep you posted.

Quick update on the grills, tables and chairs:

Grills - there are two grills available and should be functional. However, we'll need to bring charcoals. Those are charcoals grills.

Tables - there are two standard picnic tables and also one extra oval plastic table, which is just a bit larger than the picnic tables.

Chairs - The standard picnic tables have attached benches. The plastic oval table has few white plastic chairs that come with it. There are some more basic lawn chairs around the property. So, I'd say that it's not enough to sit every single person, but at least 50-60% should be able to find seating.

If anyone wish to make sure they have seating I'd say that bringing your own folding chairs might be your best bet. Also, don't forget that we'll have kids and they'll just need 5-10min at the table before they will be running around. So, maybe we don't have to stretch too much about the chairs.

Who are fooling about coming? In any event we'd love to have you come along, if you can make it.

I thought you had all rigged up for a floating office. Looks like it worked out well last year. Your salon looked like a call center.

We'll miss you.

Alex,

We'll cook up some steamers along the way at some stage.

For those that are new to our rendezvous, when we have a lot of new attendees we create name tags so that we know who it is that we are talking to.

I am going to make name tags for everyone, so please check Alex's spread sheet and make sure of the following:

1) Everyone in your group has their first name listed in the first column.

2) Everyone's name is spelled correctly.

3) Your boat name is spelled correctly, capitalization, hyphens, etc.

If anything is incorrect let us know. Otherwise your souvenir nametags will be wrong and people may laugh at you. :smt001

And it still will control a NASA satellite if need be. But, I am not selling anything if I am lounging around with your group in Block or Montauk or wherever your party ends up. And while we had had the best first 2 quarters in 9 years, for the time being, they still expect to see me and not one of the guys.

Everyone,

Much like Rick, there is just no way for me to get away for this rendezvous this year. So, unfortunately, I have to back out. But, I may just show up on a weekend, by car. We'll see....maybe I'll bring the Mustang (not the floating one).
