Has anyone made the trip south from Clearwater or St. Pete?
If so, how long did it take you? Any special concerns? Any published routes? We have a 280 Sea Ray and are looking to make the trip in mid-Oct.

I have taken this path before. It certainly is a short day trip (you could make it there, have lunch, and back before sunset). Should be a nice trip for a 280.

The only thing you will need to watch closely is the weather and seas going across Tampa Bay. A great source of information is http://www.stormsurf.com/locals/tampa.shtml

Where are you docking?

We went from Palmetto to Johs Pass in a 18' Baja once. We went mostly intercoastal. Most part of the day. In our 26' Four Winns, we went from Venice Inlet to south end of Ft. Desoto on the outside. You shouldn't have a problem. If you go the outside, watch your depth on the tip of Anna Maria island.
