Starting to think about a trip out to the Erie islands again this year and was wondering if anyone has stayed at Port Stanley. We met some folks from Erie PA once who said they routinely enjoyed visiting there. That was a while back. Anyone with recent experience? Thanks in advance

I live about 1/2 an hour from PS. There are really 2 marinas there, Stan's and Kettle Creek. By all means, if you go, stay at KC. I can't stress that enough.

There are some nice pubs and shops in town, a decent beach that is VERY busy in July and August, and 2 or 3 decent bars for the nightlife.

If you are planning a cruise over this summer, let me know and Kim & I would be happy to be your tour guides!

We boat further west down the lake in Leamington, but would be happy to hang out in PS for an afternoon/evening if you came over.

Cheers!

Randy.

I've always wanted to go there but haven't made it yet. If you look at their website it shows there calender and upcoming events. Looks like a nice place.

Thanks for the responses and tips. The cruising guide does give Kettle Creek a thumbs up.
Appreciate the offer Randy, We'll see how our plans come together.

We have a cottage and boat in Port Stanley (www.portstanley.net) and it does have a lot to offer. In addition to all of the shops (which my wife loves) they also have a tourist train (www.pstr.on.ca) which provides a scenic ride on restored coaches during the day as well as special evening dinner excursions such as murder mystery trips and Johnny Cash impersonator. Port Stanley is also home to Mackies restaurant which has been located on the beach since 1911 and offers amazing homemade french fry sauce and Orangeade. John & Fiona run Kettle Creek Marina (www.kettlecreekmarina.com) and this is their 25th anniversary at the marina so they are planning some special activities. Stan's Marina (www.stansmarina.com) is run by Dave and he offers fuel & marine parts/repair in addition to dockage. You should make reservations well in advance at either place to ensure you can get a spot. July 1 to 4th Port Stanley is planning a big Canada Day celebration with fireworks/boat parade/carnival etc. GT's (www.gtsportstanley.ca) is an open air restaurant/bar located right on the beach, which usually has live music on the weekends. If you need any other info or I can be of help just let me know.
