Cruising the North Channel

Another very important feature in the North Channel is the Cruisers Net. http://www.lcyc.ca/cruisers-net

Each morning at 9 am on Channel 71 there is a broadcast from the Anchor Inn in Little Current. Local news, national news and weather is given. But that isn't the good part. If a boat has an emergency help will be found. If someone is looking for a boat or trying to contact a boater, call Cruisers Net and they will broadcast your message.
All boats have an opportunity to call in and give their location. A great service if you are looking for someone in the area. They keep a log of calls and even if you haven't called in that day they will tell you when they did call and where they were at the time.
They also have a couple of dock parties during and at the end of the season which is a lot of fun.
Check out the link.

Wayne I will start posting pictures this week. The NC is an incredible place to visit and boat. We first went there about 7 years ago and we have gone back every year but last year. Four heart attacks and a daughter getting married prevented us from travelling north.

I think I'm going to try to get over there this summer for 2-3wks. My wife still works 3 days a wk but she could meet me at the bridge for a long weekend or two. The rest of the time I'll be on my own...I'll be good honey:grin:

If you have never been there I can say with complete confidence you will enjoy it.
If you have been there, you will enjoy it even more.
Our first trip was in 1963 and I am not tired of it yet.

Woody my wife only had 3 weeks, I went to the North Channel and she drove up and spent 3 weeks on the boat. On my trip up and back she joined me for a 3 day weekend.

For those of us that anchor out and think we do it a lot DMCB, Doug leaves tomorrow for the North Channel. Him and his wife, dog and cat will anchor out till mid September. Yes that's over 3 months anchored. They only go a shore to take the dog, pick blue berries or buy some supplies. They never spend the night at a dock and they have been doing this for over 20 years.
If you ever find yourself in the North Channel you should try and find him a great guy with a ton of boating and local knowledge.

Bringing this one back. We're scheduled to leave for the North Channel with the Parkbridge group (Powerboat Rendezvous) July 13th, returning on the 21st. Midland - Killbear - Bad River - Bustards - Killarney and return. Maybe we'll see some of you up there.
