cruising from Palm Beach to Key Largo

My wife and I are palnning to cruise to Key Largo in August and would like any advice of where to stay, approx. travel time and waypoints. We have never made a cruise this long so any help would be appreciated.

Sorry about that , i put the information on my signature page but it is not posting on the thread. I have a 2005 280da , twin 4.3 alpha 1 , and a stinking 100 gallon tank. We would like to go on the outside, figuring on stopping in Miami to refuel.

Hey Larry, I just saw your post today. We made it back with no problems, just took forever going on the inside back up. We had a GREAT time, thanks again for all your advice and giving us the listings of way points. Take care and we should stay in touch , meet on the water in near future.

How was your trip? Sorry that I did not see your post. We purchased our boat in Key Largo and made the trip up to Flagler Beach. It was an easy three day run. We stopped in Palm Beach area the first night, Sebastian the second (4th of July) at Captian Hiram's and had a great time. We made it to Flagler Beach in time for the NASCAR race the next day.

If I could leach off the wisdom learned on this trip, I'm actually planning a similar trip this March - We're having a guys trip from Pompano Beach to Key West.

I'd like to run outside for the sake of time, but weather will likely dictate that...

Does anybody have any advice on a trip to Key West, in terms of routing, Marinas, etc?

Are my 2008 CMaps fairly accurate in pointing out shoals? Are channels in that area clearly marked?
