My a/c water pump stopped working this weekend. I disassembled the pump to find the black magnet had split in two locking up the pump. The motor was humming. Should I rebuild the wet end or replace the motor and pump? The pump and motor are 2 years old. Thanks.

If this were a Sea Ray, you would have either a March 5 or a March 3 pump. If you have a March pump, the larger 5 can be purchased for roughly $250; the 3 for $225. The wet end kit for a March 5 costs about $65 from March. Most of us in salt water who use their boats for overnights or long weekends in the summer would replace the complete pump so you are going again with a few bolts and some hose clamps. Then you go ahead and rebuild the old wet end and keep that complete pump onboard for a spare. There is nothing that ruins a long weekend on the boat in June-Sept in the south any quicker than to lose the AC circulating pump.

Good idea Frank. I will be buying a new pump and a rebuild kit. Your hint about March led me to find they are the makers of my a/c pump. Thank you for your help.
