Cruise & Access to Bridge

Magic does happen:

Dear Mr. Ahern:

Thank you for your email. We apologize for the delay in our response.

Currently available fleetwide, Royal Caribbean International’s All Access Tour offers guests insight into the inner workings of some of the world’s largest and most innovative cruise ships. Guests now have the option to visit behind-the-scenes operations spaces and meet key shipboard staff members on an escorted tour during their Royal Caribbean International vacation. Areas to be explored include the bridge, galley, backstage of the main theater, engine control room and other operations areas that collectively create an extraordinary vacation experience.

At least one All Access Tour will be offered on itineraries shorter than seven nights, and at least two tours will be offered aboard seven-night and longer itineraries. Additional tours may be added based on demand. The experience lasts approximately 3.5 hours and costs $150.00 per guest. Presently, tour passes can only be purchased onboard through the Concierge, Crown & Anchor Society Loyalty Ambassador or Guest Relations Representative.

Mr. Ahern, thank you for choosing Royal Caribbean International. We look forward to welcoming you onboard.

Sincerely,

Helen Urban

John, I was just on a RCL cruise in Feb and going on another one in April. I also looked into a bridge tour for my sons and myself they informed me that it was $150 pp. so I opted out. Two months before 9/11 I was on Carnival and my whole family got the bridge tour for free. I can't see why there is a charge for this cool tour? your on the ship already ,it doesn't cost them anything. After the Carnival cruise my kids always brought up the bridge tour and how cool it was, it takes away from the experience. Nickel and dimming us. Come on!,,,

Are you going to do it John?

There's no doubt - the cruise lines have nickel & diming down to a science. (actually, I WISH they were only nickels and dimes). I wonder if they would offer a group rate? (which would also reduce the likelihood of touring with someone who asks things like "how many miles per gallon?")

It would be worth it for me though - particularly in a Freedom or Oasis class ship. I'm fascinated by those things. I'm curious about the wording of their email. I am most interested in the bridge and the E.R., but they specifically mention "engine control room"...

Because people like me will pay.....I agree 100% with you, but I am sure they treat it as a shore excursion which is not included in my 20k royalk caribbean bill!!!!
