Cruisair Question

Hello All - My Cruisair system will literally switch to COOL mode. This time of the year, the heat is on (Not dual mode; just Heat). It runs great.. But randomly will go into cool mode. The unit doesn't shut off; then restart in A/C mode; it literally just switches over to AC. The admiral and I realize it when one of us says "It's cold in here"...

I did a factory reset after I had the unit serviced ~2 months ago. (Removed unit; thorough cleaning of coils; fixed a leaking schrader valve; etc.)

Computer gremlin? I'm out of ideas... other than leaving the system in dual mode at all times?

Ryan, I had some issues with my dometic/cruiseair and found their local service team very helpful and free for phone consultations....

Is it an SMXir? Are you using your TV remote in the vicinity of the Cruisair control panel? I ask becuase I have a conflict between these devices. To fix it I disabled the IR window on the SMR panel.

Sea Gull - Yes; I have the TV remote; as well as the TracVision remote. An excellent idea that you have; although I don't find a programming function to disable the remote function. Now as I read your reply again; I realize that you probably meant that you disabled the IR window on the control panel (literally). Did you cover it up with something?

I'm 90% sure this will do the trick; although I do recall a few times that we've left the system in HEAT mode; left the boat for a week; and returned to find it in COOL mode.

I found the little Apple remotes that come with macs and the AppleTV also screw with the SMX things... I kept yelling at the kids last summer about how they kept turning the system from "cool" to "heat" and they kept denying it... It was the stinking remote.

Too Funny - I can't speak for the kids; but much like your golden pups; they never do wrong; either; right? Besides screaming at the kids; what did you do to correct the issue? Modify the control panel?

There is a published procedure for disabling the ir on the circuit board in the SMX. I recall that some members here have done it. I, on the other hand, barely having enough time to keep my struts polished, opted for the quick method. I cut a small square of black electrical tape and covered the ir window on each SMX. Worked like a charm.
