Wondering if anyone has replaced an older (circa 2000's) cruisair a/c stowaway 7K BTU unit with and newer turbo series model?

Is it a "plug and play" installation? Are the control units compatible? Does the SMX ir Keypad work with it? Does it function with the pump contol relay unit?

Is it as simple as purchasing the self contained turbo series unit (with compressor and condenser) and just plug the existing control unit and SMX in?

Any help / suggestions would be appreciated.

Not a direct answer but my experience with replacing a 16K BTU unit may be indicative. Largely it was plug and play. I found that water inputs were in slightly different positions and connectors were not the same. Connector adapters were available but still required a little work with a blade to connect effectively. Otherwise a much better engineered unit (less steel and more composite) and much quieter. Also, in my case, the control unit did not fit on the a/c unit as it did on the 1996 version and had to be bulkhead mounted. No big deal. It was, overall, one of the easier replacements.

My 2005 Cruisair was essentiall a direct replacement. Minor rerouting of hoses and moving location of the control box. The TURBO does work with SMX but you must order the SMX compatible TURBO unit. There are two kinds so note this when you order. I ordered a new control as well but haven't yet installed it. Wiring to thermo and control are the same.

Thanks for the responses! Will check the part numbers when I order and report how things went.
