Recently, when I walk on my engine hatching eat a bad creak. I checked the track for stones, etc that might be caught in there but it is all clean. Any idea what causes this or how to fix it?

I can't speak specifically about your boat -- but creaks, often times, can be attributed to fiberglass rubbing against fiberglass. Sometimes this can be from a loose hinge, sometimes simply from a boat flexing over time. With the hatch closed, check around the perimeter, paying attention to the "gap". Then go ahead and open up and look at those tight spots again for a place where the gel seems to be wearing away (deck and/or hatch). As long as things are open, go ahead and check the rest for good measure. Sometimes the fix is simply tightening hinges - sometimes it's shimming the hatch - sometimes it's sanding/grinding the offending spots (typically only sand the hatch edge). There may be more to this, but this would at least be a good (and easy) place to start.

Mine does the same thing. I'll be investigating it and will post my findings.

I think the hatch gasket may be compressed or have slipped out of place. The ram is lowering the hatch, but the hatch has not bottomed so you get a squeak. Test it by putting some cheap, thin weather stripping under the hatch to take up some space.

My own personal experience with my hatch creaking was fiberglass rubbing against fiberglass just as Dennis mentioned. It required a bit of sanding on the hatch itself to fix it.

Thanks for the replies... I will look for wear spots and try the weather stripping trick.
