Has anyone cracked the code on how to filter out all of the tire kickers when placing boat ads on this site? I have my 2002 176 posted on this site and I have been stood up everytime someone tells me their "one the way" to look at my boat. It is really getting old! :smt013

Make them call you when they have arrived. Tell them to describe where they are so you know they're not fooling or get them to mail you a $100.00 refundable viewing fee. They get it back after they show up. :grin:

good stuff. I like the $100 check in the mail... knowing the craigs list crowd that would probably be a deal breaker since that is probably their total price point!! it seems like most of that crew is looking for something for nothing. It is more like a flea market than anything else!

I've bought and sold a few similar boats on Craiglist here on the KY/IN border.

Never had a problem selling, but that was when the economy was better.

Only had one problem buying--a Sea Ray 185 that I went to look at. Told the guy 2 hours away that I was serious about seeing it, but would only pay x and needed a sea trial. He called 2 weeks later and said the price would work and we set a time. I drove to see it, only to find it in a lot. "Oh, you want to run it? I have a wedding party tonight." Finally, 45 minutes later, they produced the keys and had a friend launch us at a lake...pushed us right into the water with a dead battery. After the rescue experience, everything else was fine.

Also put in your ad NO emails. Call my cell #. Then type it like this.. 3 one 5 7 two 3 five 5 three 2 . It cuts out all the spammers and tire kickers. :smt001. This way you have their phone # on your cell phone

I sold my previous boat on Craig's list and was very happy with the experience. Great suggestions to improve the experience.

My friend sells $15k to $20k bikes all the time on Craigslist. When I sold my Jet Ski, the guy had questions but we agreed to a price before he came to look at it and he showed up with cash. He told me I was the only one that was honest and that I had accurately described the Jet Ski.

Sometimes we are honest to a fault. :lol: We do tend to tell it like it is around here. :thumbsup: Have patience on the Craig's list. I have a couple of buddies that swore by it and have had good experiences.

Bought my 200 sport off craigs list. Worked out really well and I got a great deal on a pretty much brand new boat.
