Anyone deal with a cracking surface on the flat surfaces under the windshields. I am seeing the beginning of cracks on the port side. Any way to repair? Cover ideas? TIA.

Hard to say without knowing what type of surface we are talking about or even what brand and model boat. Your signature only lists "281". Cracking can be a lot of things... got some pictures?

Try this. It's the surface just under the port windshield on a 90s sundancer. Its just starting.

Hi Golfman

I have a Searay 395 and my dash is also cracking up in the same way as yours. I think this is all down to heat and sunlight that was constantly on the dash when the boat was in the Mediterranean. I have spoken with a Gel Coat repair specialist at the marina and he has suggested a couple of options, one being a complete re-coat of the dash area across the front screen. Mega work and a lot of money.

Other option he said would be to consider a carbon fibre wrap that could be wrapped over the entire dash and would give a new look to it.

In the end I decided to just leave these as they are for the time being until they get worse and will review the situation in the future. I just make sure that when I leave the boat after using it all the helm is covered by sheets to protect it from further sun damage when we are not on the boat.
