Hi all, I am currently having my upholstery redone and the double helm seat on my 2001 310 Sundancer is cracked. The crack goes all the way across the back where the bottom and the back of the seat meet. It started flexing more towards the end of the season and now I know why. Does anyone have any repair ideas or used/new purchase ideas? Pics should be attached

A couple of ideas come to mind:

1) possibly have a piece of stainless bent to match the angle and then attach the bottom and top. Going to have to find best way to hide it and the mounting hardware.

2) Strip off the rest of the foam and go to a fiberglass shop. Have one modelled with foam and then glassed over.

3) Have it 3D scanned, cleaned up and have it 3D printed .

4) Lastly search for a salvage boat

Not sure that can be fixed. You could make a new structure out of wood possibly.

Also something like this may work as well: https://www.overtons.com/springfield-double-bucket-chair-off-white-316832.html
+1 with @SKybolt, that crack is right at the stress point, will just crack again. Wood is an easily worked medium, but must be kept dry to last and will be heavy. IMHO, if you’re spending the money to reupholster, do it right the first time and replace with another fiberglass seat.

Had the same issue on mine years ago when I got it. Had my fab guy make a stainless frame that re-enforced it from the inside then put the foam and cover back one. Worked great. Sorry that was flip phone days so no pics of the mod.
