Been having some trouble with starting the engine the last couple weeks. Solenoid would just not "hit". Well, after investigating, the starter & solenoid assembly sit directly beneath the seawater intake hose for engine. As luck would have it, the clamp for this hose was broke allowing for a nice drip of saltwater to continuously flow on this assembly. Got it all apart and the steel coupler was totally corroded not allowing for any current. It is next to impossible to find this coupler as it is a non-std metric thread. Merc dealer told me "I can order you a new starter assembly". Gee...thanks buddy! Anyway, just making a new one in my shop. But this has been a pain in the @ss!!!
