COST OF REPLACING AND RE SEALING SHAFTS ON A 340SD

Hey guys new to the forum but all of the info ive gathered helped me make my buying decision unfortunately im also new to repairs on inboards like my mechanic of 30 years on my outboards said im not in Kansas anymore.S straight to the point im having all of my seals prop shafts rudder seals gimbal bearing all of it whats a good price im located in saint pete if any one can recommend a good mechanic

No gimbal bearing in a inboard boat.
 
All depends on what kind of seals they are. Rudder seals would usually be standard flax packing and just require a 1/4 turn to stop any leaking. To replace the packing is an easy job, depending on how accessible they are.

Drip less seals on the shafts don't need replacement unless they are leaking. Replacement costs would depend on the type of seal and what kind of access your mechanic has.

I'm in the process of doing the same on my 2001 340DA. Shaft seals on my boat cost $55 each + labor. Restuffing the rudders is primarily labor. Anyway, I suggest giving Marsch Harbor Marina on Snead Island a call.

That sounds like 4 times what I paid for a lip seal. Also have you checked your shaft to see if there is a spare already on it. There is sometimes a carrier attached to the shaft with a spare already slipped over the shaft so you don't have to separate the coupler.
