I have a 99 400DA with 3116 Cats with the pump system for easy oil changes. I am wondering what I can expect to pay for an oil change if I pay the marina prior to it going into winter storage? I am just trying to get an idea on how hard it is to change the oil and how much time I should expect them to take.

Why not call them and ask them that question. Everyone on here would be guessing. Only the marina can tell you what they would charge.

Why not hire a diesel mechanic to teach you how to do it? That's what I'm doing. I want to know how to change the oil, filters, genset oil and filters, service the Racors, etc.

What you pay the diesel mechanic is probably about what you would pay the marina to change your oil, then you'd know how to do it yourself.

Around here it is 350.00 to change oil, filters,(all filters using cat products) and winterize each engine. Genset is less, I think around 175.00

Really good points and something that I will do next season, but considering my boat is 5 hours away and I didn't have much time to schedule a diesel mechanic prior to my boat being put in storage, I decided to have the marina do the oil change for me. I was just looking to get a sense of how hard it is to change the oil and how long it should take. The marina quoted me $200 in labor and I thought that was a bit high but based on what katricol said, it might be somewhat in line.

There's alot more to putting a boat up than just changing the engine oil....

transmission service
zincs
air filter cleaning
racors
etc etc

I don't know where everyone is getting these low prices to winterize. oil alone was like $275. I'm guessing i've got $1k in supplies to winterize my boat. Doesn't include the shrink wrap.

I agree with you... My annual order from ryderfleetproducts.com for filters, test strips, etc. is around $250. Add in all the other stuff like impellers, oil, genny parts and such and it's over $1000...

"everyone" answering Mike and Gary. The price my marina charges to: change oil and ALL filters including racors using cat oil filters, oil, winterize engine with anti-freeze, is........$350.00 per engine. This does NOT include zincs, impellers, genset parts, test strips, shrink wrap or anything else. Just the items stated.

DIY costs for my boat, two engines and genset. Includes racors, oil filters, air filter cleaning kits, oil lab analysis test kits, 12 gallons of Rotella and diesel fuel stabilizer for 320 gallons of diesel. Totaled just over $350. About 3-1/2 hours of your time must be added! You'll have to calculate the value of that!
I think last year I paid a marina about $750 for the same.
