i have a 2007 aj 6.2 mercruiser bravo 3 and was wanting to know the correct operating temp of the water and the correct oil psi.

Thanks everyone!! this is my first post:thumbsup:

Good question I've been wondering what is normal for other people. I have twin 6.2L and they both run about the same.
Water Approx 175-180F, Oil is 40 psi but less at lower RPM’s

Do other agree?

Update: I didn't know that jimdavi... (Below) I have closed system. Thanks

Do you have raw water cooling or closed cooling? They run at different temps. I have raw water 5.7's and they both run at 160 degrees. The closed cooling runs about ~15 degrees hotter. They have different thermostats. My oil psi is the same and low at idle.

I have a closed system and Im running between 165 and 175..

Oil press in between 45 and 55 depending on rpms

I have the 8.1 496 but thought Id add my info anyway

I also have the 8.1 496 in HO form (425HP) with closed cooling and have observed exactly the same readings as listed above.

I just ran 160 miles virtually non-stop in a single day averaging about 38mph when moving with an overall cruise average of 22mph and observed normal operating temperatures and pressures the entire trip.

At 3800 RPM fast cruise (40mph) temp ranges 165-167.

At 3000 RPM slow cruise (32mph) temp ranges 159-161.

I notice that hotter and more humid days can add 2-3 degrees to the above.

At WOT (4800 RPMS and between 52-56mph depending on load and water conditions) temp runs up to about 171 -173. I only run WOT for about 120-180 seconds at a time.

On top of this all, I do notice that opening the Corsa exhaust will knock a degree or two off the temp on cool days (but then who can handle that drone at cruise).

Make sure to check and top up those fluids! Engine oil, gear oil, power steering fluid and coolant if you have a closed system. And ALWAYS carry a full supply of all such fluids in a closed plastic container. I use a battery box with a tension strap.

Also, I use only high octane gasoline (93 octane) which seems to make a difference. I carry octane boosting fuel additiive in my fluids box so that if I am forced to fuel up at an 87 or 89 pump (very few marine fuel places have 92 or 93), I can add that and get the octane up.

I have a 4.3LX with raw water cooling and there's two thermostats available for it (140 and 160). I've noticed the engine will run about 10 degrees hotter than whichever tstat is in there (at least according to my gauge; I don't know how accurate it is). The specs call for using the 140 tstat so I'm usually at 150 degrees or so.

150 degreees sounds kind of cold to me and I've experimented with using the hotter tstat under the theory that the engine would be running more efficiently, but the local boat mechanics told me that I'd better stay with what the book says I'm supposed to put in there.
