I really hate to ask this, and yes I do have a Mercury manual, but it does not State anywhere on what oil filter to use. I have a 1990 searay 180. Engine# 0C762406. 4.3. I believe I have a MCM 4.3L, just so many different variations.
Trust me I've looked I'm just looking to cross reference one so I can buy it at the local parts store.
I have service manual #7 and nowhere does it show the basic part numbers needed.
Air filter #
Oil filter #
I does show plugs though
Thanks for any advice.

If it is a 4.3 with the oil filter on the bock (lower port side) vs the remote oil filter mounted front top, then it is the same filter a car or truck with a 4.3 would use. Mine was that style and I mostly used either a NAPA or ACDelco filter they are bigger filters than the Quicksilver and generally preferred.

NAPA: FIL1036
ACDelco: PF52E
Sierra: 18-7879
Quicksilver: 35-883702Q

If you have the remote oil filter, I am not sure the part number for that, it's a different filter.

On a boat, there is no such thing as a replaceable air filter. The thing that looks like an air filter is a flame arrestor - take it off and clean with carburetor clean or even soap and water. Not something you would replace unless it was lost or damaged somehow.

Thanks a million. Exactly what I needed. For some reason these manuals have no part numbers. Much appreciated.

I used the Carquest ones on mine. Tose didn't have the cardboard in them and had a EPDM or the likes anti drain back in them. Now that they are closed down, I'll probably go to the Mobil 1 filter for synthetic oils. I use them in the pick ups and cars around here and have had no issues for hundreds of thousands of miles in different vehicles over the years. I just never use the NAPA Gold and Fram due to the cardboard. Watched a $22k build ruined in less than 20 seconds when the cardboard came out of a Fram filter.

Napa gold should be a very good filter. I don't remember them being "cardboard equipped" They are made by WIX if I remember correctly

Some were and some arent. Had a long talk with the local NAPA about that. I was going to order a case during their filter sale. He steered me away from them. Can never have enough 4.3l filters for the boat. Or dad's pick up. And it's the same filter with different number on the ol 470 boat too.

Nope only Fram uses cardboard as @Nater Potater Nathan mentioned and NAPA is made by WIX, possibly the best filter made today. Baldwin is another good filter, great fuel filter(s).
